Swag

It's not only the writing of the book, but the promotion that takes up a lot of time and mental space. Who's my audience, where do I find them, how do I reach out to them?

Given my day job as a publicist, some people are surprised that I don't run my PR campaigns myself. Nope. I hire out for that. Frankly, it's a lot of work and there are excellent book PRs out there that specialize in the niche. This takes a lot of the grunt work off of me, so I can spend time doing guest blogs, interviews and, of course, writing.

But I still can't go into the promotion brain dead.

What I missed last time was adding swag to the book giveaways. I didn't do it. I didn't even think about doing it until it was too late. Sure I could have cobbled something together, I guess. I know everyone likes Amazon gift cards, and all that, but I want my swag to have something to do with the title and not generic. In other words, I need a plan.

So, in anticipation of an October release, I have swag on the brain. I was thinking custom vampire stakes. What kind of goodies get you excited?
